Why maintenance matters
Dust is quietly eating your generation.
Solar has no moving parts, which is exactly why so many owners forget it is there — until the bill creeps back up and nobody can say why. The usual culprit is not a fault, it is dirt. In Madhya Pradesh dust settles on panels within days, and a soiled array simply converts less sunlight.
Here is the honest arithmetic. Take a 3 kW rooftop system in Bhopal. At the district’s typical 5.2 peak sun hours it generates in the order of 4,200 units a year. Soiling between cleanings knocks a realistic 8–12% off that in the dry stretches — roughly 340 to 500 units lost. At the prevailing MP residential tariff of about ₹7.50 a unit, the dust is costing you somewhere between ₹2,500 and ₹3,800 a year in generation you have already paid to install. Your roof, your tariff and your cleaning gap move the number, but the direction never changes: unmanaged dust costs more than a maintenance plan.
